When I read your résumé, I want to rule you out—I look for signs that indicate you wouldn’t be able to accomplish the role’s goals. For example, a pattern of staying at jobs for only a few months hints the same would happen if I hired you now. You have to come to the interview with an understanding of your résumé’s red flags, and be able to give good explanations of what happened and plans to do better. It’s not rude or unfair—on the contrary, I want to give you a chance, but I also want to protect my team and my company.
